the holidays won’t ruin your progress.

Remember in the last blog where we talked about consistency? As long as you aren’t consistently treating every day like it’s the holidays then it won’t ruin your progress. You may experience temporary weight gain in the form of water weight, but give it a few days and you’ll see the scale go back down to whatever your maintenance weight is.

That being said, if you’re looking for tips on how to get through the holidays without the guilt, search no more.

  1. Don’t do what will make you feel guilty. Easier said than done, I know, but if you know eating an extra plate of desserts is something you’ll regret opt for a glass of water instead to give that craving time to pass.

  2. Fill up on the more nutritious foods first. Ensure that you’re giving your body what it needs. That way, you either don’t have room to overeat the sweet stuff or if you do you know that your body has gotten its vegetables and protein in.

  3. Avoid social eating. Remove whatever temptation may be in front of you.

  4. Eat the vegetables first. This will help your body feel more full and also aids in digestion!

Don’t overcomplicate it! Notice how at no point I said “add an extra hour of cardio for every 500 calories”. Don’t punish yourself for enjoying the holidays.

Celebrate with friends and family and then feel free to put the extra calories to use the next day, but don’t try to add in extra work.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays!
